I never got a chance to go to a Buffy: The Musical sing-along show before Fox legally ordered all movie theaters to cease and desist future events. Last year, a group of us planned to go to a show at the Parkway. Unfortunately, we didn't get to the theater early enough or get advance tickets. The show was sold out with a line around the corner when we got there.
According to my sister in Manhattan, they not only had Rocky Horror-esque screenings but also staged musical productions of "Once More, With Feeling" with live actors. Apparently they're now all quashed by Fox. Sad. Buffy sing -alongs in my future will be limited to long car rides with my family.
What's your musical horoscope? (Put your player on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that come up.)
Inspired by Stephanie.
I'm surprised that no a cappella songs came up.

What song gives you the most holiday cheer?
Submitted by Roxy.
I would count Silver Bells and It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year as two of my favorite holiday carols...even though ITMWTOTY was hijacked by some office supply store for their back to school ad campaigns.
What are your top 5 CDs/albums of 2006?
Submitted by eliz. s.
I am not an early adoptor when it comes to music. I doubt that I have anything in my CD collection with a 2006 copyright. Looking at the Billboard Top 100 Albums Chart, I own zero of these CD. If you ask me in two or three years for my top CDs from 2006, I may have a better answer for you.
What song or lyrics are stuck in your head at the moment? What album is it from?

When I saved this QotD the first time, the song that was stuck in my head was the mariachi cover version of The Words Get in the Way from the dinner date scene in the movie Jerry Maguire. I don't think it appears on any album.
I don't even know the lyrics to the original song. Plus, in the movie the band continues the song singing Spanish lyrics. I don't speak any Spanish and don't know any of those lyrics either.
I suppose what was stuck in my head was a classical guitar strumming the rhythm with a soothing hispanic accented male voice singing Gloria Estefan's melody. Imagine that.
Until today, I had never won anything by dialing into a radio station. Yeah, that all changed.
At lunchtime, driving around in a borrowed car (my wife's); listening to a radio station from 60 miles away; I dialed in 3 times and was apparently caller number twenty.
So in a few weeks, I'll be off to a concert at Concord Pavillion complements of KFOX.
So in the summer of '67, Jimi Hendrix signed on to open for The Monkees for their US tour. Why the odd-ball pairing? At the time, Jimi was still trying to find a US audience for Purple Haze, Hey Joe, etc...Peter, Mickey and the boys suggested Hendrix because they recognized his talent and wanted to be able to stand in the audience and watch Jimi live every night.
Yeah, he only lasted seven dates before he got tired of all the pre-pubescent girls screaming for Davey, flipped off the crowd, walked offstage, and cancelled his contract.
Nothing groundbreaking here. I just liked the story and I thought I'd share.
